LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- A Louisville women's basketball player has received a season-ending diagnosis.

Senior guard Antonita Slaughter will miss the rest of the season after experiencing a "cardiac event" during Tuesday night's game that uncovered a blood clot in one of her lungs. Head coach Jeff Walz says she is on blood thinners to help with the clot and is not able to play while on the medication. He says when she is released from the hospital, he expects she will rejoin the team and sit with them on the bench during games.

Walz praised the quick work of the medical crew at the KFC Yum! Center in getting Slaughter from the arena to the hospital in short order.
