LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- After nearly two years of waiting, the University of Louisville is officially in the ACC.

The Cards became members at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday morning and were welcomed by Commissioner John Swofford in a morning press conference.  Swofford called the Cards entry a "landmark moment" for the league.

U of L Athletic Director Tom Jurich said getting into the ACC took "the weight of the world" off the school's shoulders.

U of L's first major event as members of the ACC will be the nationally televised football home opener against Miami on September 1.
