Brown-Forman Amphitheater in Waterfront Park

The Polar Plunge is one of the biggest Special Olympics fundraisers of the year. The Plunge is a truly unique event and includes a fun, festive atmosphere with food and great prizes. The Plunge works just like a Walk-a-Thon, but with one big twist. Participants still solicit donations to support their effort (a BEAR minimum of $75 to take part or $50 for Junior Plungers), but instead of walking, Polar Bears take a chilly dip into the Ohio River off the docks at Waterfront Park by the Big Four Bridge or into a pool set up in the Brown-Forman Amphitheater in Waterfront Park.NEW IN 2018!This year, we are giving you an extra hour of sleep and starting the plunge later than usual! The first plunge will begin at 11:45. Also, we know how cold it can be, so why take our time?! We will have our first SPEED PLUNGE this year, as we attempt to get everyone in and out of the water in ONE HOUR. That’s right, no more standing in the freezing cold lines. Let’s get in, get out and get on to HopCat for the Post Plunge party! For more information about the 2018 Polar Plunge, contact Jennifer McMahon at 502-326-5002 or jmcmahon@soky.org

Due to the rising river and continued rain, plungers will not allowed to jump into the Ohio River.   However, there will be a pool set up and everyone can still participate.
