Kentucky Teacher Accused of Raping of 15-Year-Old Student

Kentucky teacher arrested for sex with student

A biology teacher in Kentucky has been arrested and charged with four counts each of rape and sodomy after school officials learned of her "inappropriate relationship" with a 15-year-old student.

School officials got involved after a student told a teacher about Kendall Burk's "possible inappropriate relationship between a teacher and a student," the sheriff's office said.

“Our deputies, at that point, once they were alerted, interviewed some other students who had made the allegations and worked backwards, interviewing the victim as well as the teacher,” said Grant County Sheriff Brian Mains.

An investigation by officials revealed Burk, 23, had "multiple sexual encounters" with the 15-year-old male student off-campus during summer break after they began a relationship at the end of the previous school year.

Burk admitted to having sex with the student twice at her parent's home where she lived, and two other times in her car.

According to a letter sent by the school district, Burk has been fired.

"While these events of course sadden us, our first priority...is and must always be the protection and safety of our students," the letter stated.

Burk graduated from the University of Kentucky in 2018 and had taught at the high school for a little over a year.

Burk bailed out on Thursday afternoon and is due back in court on Monday (Aug. 26).
