Nine People, Including Two Children, Die In South Dakota Plane Crash

Nine people, including two children, were killed when a single-engine plane crashed shortly after taking off from Chamberlain Municipal Airport in South Dakota. The plane went down in a cornfield in a rural area of Chamberlain, about one mile from the airport. Officials rushed to the scene and managed to remove the bodies from the wreckage.

There were 12 people on board the plane, and the three survivors were rushed to local hospitals.

Officials believe the weather was a factor in the crash. The area was under a winter storm watch, and authorities were not letting any planes land at the airport due to the deteriorating weather conditions.

Two of the victims were identified as local businessmen Jim and Kirk Hansen. The identity of the other victims, including the pilot, have not been released. The three survivors are men who are 17, 27, and 28-years-old.
