A 20-year-old American woman is facing potential prison time in Germany after being accused of fatally stabbing a migrant man. The incident occurred on June 29 at the Kaiserslautern Central Station in southwest Germany. According to the Kaiserslautern Public Prosecutor’s Office, the woman claims the man, aged 64, sexually assaulted her by grabbing her buttocks, which led to an exchange of words and the subsequent stabbing.
The prosecutor's office reported that the woman used a folding knife to make stabbing movements towards the man. During the altercation, the man grabbed her arm, but she managed to free herself and stabbed him once, resulting in his death within seconds. The woman has been charged with bodily injury resulting in death, a charge that requires intent only for the injury, with negligence regarding the death.
The U.S. State Department is aware of the incident and has stated its commitment to providing appropriate assistance to U.S. citizens abroad. The American woman could face up to ten years in a German prison if convicted. The prosecutor's office has not released the identities of either individual involved in the incident.
