Police in Nashville are searching for Candido Raul Rubio-Perez, 54, who is wanted for allegedly stabbing his estranged wife, Niurka Alfonso-Acevedo, to death outside Chadwell Elementary School on Monday (April 14). The tragic incident occurred before students arrived, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD).
Alfonso-Acevedo, 52, was a custodian at the school, having worked there since 2024. Police believe Rubio-Perez was lying in wait for her in the parking lot before attacking her. A school staff member discovered Alfonso-Acevedo's body around 6 a.m. and immediately called 911. Officers arrived shortly after the call.
An arrest warrant for criminal homicide has been issued for Rubio-Perez. The MNPD is urging anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463. Callers can remain anonymous and may qualify for a reward of up to $5,000. The school district has assured the community that there is no ongoing threat to students or staff.
The Metro Nashville Public Schools expressed their condolences, stating, "Our thoughts are with the victim’s family, friends, and the entire Chadwell Elementary community during this time of loss."
The investigation is ongoing, and police are actively searching for Rubio-Perez.
