New DNA Evidence Names Possible Jack The Ripper

Illuminated cobbled street in old city by night

Forensic scientists believe they've solved one of the world's biggest unsolved murder mysteries; who was Jack The Ripper? Genetic tests, published last week in Journal of Forensic Sciences, points to Aaron Kosminski, a 23-year-old Polish barber and prime suspect by police at the time. Jack the Ripper is said to have been responsible for the gruesome deaths of at least five women in the streets of Victorian London. The results come from forensic samples taken from a blood-stained silk shawl that was believed to have been found next to one of the mutilated bodies -- the killer's fourth victim in 1888. Some experts dispute the findings arguing there's no proof the shawl was at the crime scene and may have been contaminated over the last century. Nobody was ever charged for the murders. Kosminski died in an asylum in 1919.
